The night before leaving for my knitting retreat, I cast on a new project to take with me. The knitting retreat didn’t work out (I got sick and left early) but the project is starting to take shape.

The pattern is the Karla Cape by Anne Ventzel, which looks like this:

It doesn’t quite feel like my normal style, but I kept coming back to this pattern, and I decided “Why not?” Who needs a “normal” style anyway? It is a very easy, contemplative project which produces a lovely, thick, warm fabric. It is knitted with a strand of Isager Soft held together with Isager Tvinni, producing a bulky weight fabric, with a 16 st/10cm gauge.

I finished the upper back and fronts and have joined the pieces at the underarm, so I expect that the speed will slow down a bit now that I have so many stitches on the needle. Nevertheless, at this gauge, it will still move along quickly.

I have been recovering slowly from another bout of covid, but I am definitely on the mend. Sweater weather has arrived, and it gets me thinking about all of the lovely things I want on my needles. Shout out to Emma, for being my knitting buddy, and to Doug who dug out (pun intended) our old collection of 400+ DVDs from the depths of the garage. That will keep us occupied as the weather gets colder.
Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians! I hope you are enjoying a harvest feast with loved ones today.
